The Motherhood Village Podcast

Feb 3, 2022

This episode has been sponsored by Modern Mom Style Box! Ashley Paré of Own Your Worth! and NGC Consulting LLC .

Susan Landers, MD practiced neonatology (the critical care of sick infants and premature babies) for over thirty years. While working full-time, she also raised three children, all to young adulthood. Her children presented her with many typical maternal trials and triumphs, and she called on her village to help her with some of those issues.

She is an expert in breastfeeding medicine and donor human milk banking, and she served as a regional and national instructor for the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Susan Landers suffered from burnout after 32 years of practicing in the NICU. She now serves to educate others about this condition, and her mission is to support and serve other working mothers while they attempt (struggle?) to balance their work and their family life.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • Her journey as a Neonatologist and working in the NICU
  • The pressures to be a perfect mom and to understand you can be a "good enough" mom.
  • Tapping into our strengths and weaknesses as we wear many different hats.
  • Recognizing our mood boosters to help manage stress.
  • Creating a supporting & understanding village for your family & career.
  • Understanding life is all about trade-offs, and doing the best you can with what you have.
